Our homes may look spotlessly clean but you can almost be sure that they are filled with airborne allergens and contaminants. The foreign bodies come from the carpets that we lay on our floors and the cleaning agents that we use on our toilets, counters and floors. Even we ourselves shed skin flakes that stay on our bedding. This is the reason why incidence of asthma and other respiratory diseases are on the rise. This is also why people are getting sick and we don’t know what is causing it.

Purification systems have been developed to counter the situation. There is the indoor air purifier and the humidifier. Air cleaning devices are intended to remove pollutants from indoor air. They are meant to clean the air that we breathe. Some of these devices are installed in the duct work of a home’s heating, ventilating and air conditions system. This will clean the air in the whole house. There are also portable versions that can be used in specific areas.

A few days ago I saw an amazing documentary. The documentary is called Run from the Cure. It is a documentary that champions the use of hemp use. According to the documentary, hemp oil is a miracle drug that can cure most diseases including cancer. It is a tale of cover ups and shocking accusations.

Run from the cure also speculates on why cannabis was classified as illegal. Advocates believe that marijuana use produces no lasting effects. Medically most of the effects will leave the body within three hours. Critics point out that marijuana use has lasting effects. Most notable of these effects are short term memory lost, chest cold and bronchitis.

The Importance of Medical IDs

People with serious medical conditions are advised to wear a medical identification tag. It is a small emblem or tag that is worn on a bracelet, neck chain or clothing that provides information about person who might require special attention. This device alerts the physician who responds to an emergency about the patient’s medical history and status. This is especially needed by patients who are unconscious or are too young to explain the situation. With a medical ID bracelet kids who are not of age to talk or explain their condition will be given proper care.

Medical IDs come in different forms. The most common are emblems attached to a bracelet or a neck chain. Others prefer to carry a card in their wallet. A modern medical ID is a USB flash drive that hangs from a bracelet or necklace. It is preferred by emergency personnel because it contains more information than just a mere logo or tag indicating the patient’s illness. The information from a USB flash drive can be easily accessed from a computer.

Asthma is a chronic lung condition characterized by inflammation of the airways. It causes a person to pant and be short of breath. It is common among children as well as adults. Most asthmatic conditions are inherited but the environment has also a lot to do with it. The air is filled with pollutants which have been linked as one of the causes of asthma.

There are effective medical remedies for asthma. Most are anti-inflammatory drugs and bronchodilators. As with all kinds of medications, these can have adverse effects in the long run. It is a better option to go for natural asthma treatment. Some suggested home remedies include a steam bath as this will stimulate the skin and decongest the lungs. Others recommend ginger tea with garlic and a host of other home medications.

To lose weight you should exercise and diet. Unfortunately for most people exercising is a stretch. The body pain that comes with any exercise program just doesn’t appeal to most people. The best exercise program for you is the one that you enjoy the most. For me, it’s dance. I love to dance. That’s why I have lots of dance workout videos.

Dance workout videos are great. Not only will you get a great workout you will also be a great dancer. Dance workouts are mostly aerobic. The great thing about dance workouts is it’s so fun that time flies. You may not be able to run an hour but dancing for an hour is a cinch. It’s hard but it’s a cinch.

Proteins are an important substance in human and animal diets. Nutritionally, complete proteins are those that contain the right amounts of amino acids. A proper diet can be easily achieved when a person consumes the right mixture of proteins. Some of these might be deficient in one amino acid but rich in another.

Amino acids are organic compounds that are the building blocks of proteins. Amino acids form long chains. There are many kinds of amino acids but only about 20 are the main constituents of proteins. Half of these are identified as essential nutrients that are much needed by the human diet.

Atherosclerosis

About a month ago i had one of my toe on my left foot who was blue and felt dry, at first i thought it probably was in need of foot cream or lotion, but after a week of application it was not getting any better, so i went to see a podiatrist. to make a long story short he diagnosed that it could be atherosclerosis and that it could be the beginning of a serious problem.

Being that this sounded more serious then i thought i started to do recherche on this particular condition and this is a brief resume of my findings:

Regardless of the cause, high cholesterol plays a major role in the development of atherosclerosis or hardening and narrowing of the arteries, which in turn raises the risk of heart attack and stoke. In this case the major culprit is elevated LDL. While LDL is harmful, HDL, a good form of cholesterol, helps arteries, it quiets inflammation in damaged arteries and block the oxidation of LDL.

In a healthy artery, the inner lining is smooth and intact, but disease or injury, as well as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes can damage this lining paving the way for atherosclerosis.

Atherosclerosis begins when white blood cells move into the lining and artery wall. They transform into foam cells which accumulate fat and cholesterol. Other substances, such as calcium, also collect at the site and eventually an atherosclerotic plaque forms. These plaques thicken and harden the artery wall and bulge into the bloodstream to reduce or block blood flow. When one of those plaque get loose it can trigger a blood clot leading to heart attack or stroke. Keeping track of your numbers can help you maintain a better health.

Patience !!!!

We all have those moments, and you all know what they are. Stop tapping your toes, running around in circle, yelling and fuming. Practicing patience is not only good for your health but will make you a better and  happier person to be around as well. PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE, and being impatient is a bad habit that we need to break, not only for the people in our life but also for the sake of our own well-being. Remember that impatience is a behavior and that impatient people feel that they are special and above everyone else and should be free of the annoying inconveniences of life, that their time is more valuable , whether when driving or waiting in line .

Waiting with patience means accepting the actual circumstances and giving-up the idea that you can control the situation especially in the world of today where there is not enough hour in a day to achieve all that was expected. Being patient is not easy and it take practice and the best way to cultivate it is to remind yourself that the moment is now and train yourself to live in the present, in peace and harmony , even if you are stock in the middle of a traffic jam.

Manage your expectation for the benefit of your health by trying to turn frustration into fascination!!!!!No matter what you do the world will not be controlled by your frustration and your impatience.

Fish in our diet

As we have been informed from health specialists the higher the amount of fish consumed as part of  our diet, the better off in a long term we will be. The best approach would be to include at list two fish portions in our weekly food consumption. Oily fish are the better one and can include Salmon, Trout,Cod, Herring, Fresh tuna, Sardines, simply to name a few. Omega 3 fatty acids are present in high concentrations within those fish, they also contain protein , minerals and vitamins. Other types of fish like Swordfish or Shark contain mercury and should be consumed less frequently. In order to have a larger variety of choices you may also incorporate shellfish or even crustacean such as crab, lobster or shrimp. Frozen fish are also providing the same amount of Omega 3, protein, minerals and vitamins and can be a good substitute but be aware of freezer burn product.

When purchasing fresh fish always look for the two s. Shine and smell. First the shine : fresh fish should have a brilliant reflection of the light, if not, if doll looking it is not fresh. Second : if it smells fishy don’t even think about buying-it.

Always remember the purchase of your fish should be the last item before you heat the cash register and if you are in a hot climate have the store clerk provide you with some ice for your trip back home, fish can spoil very rapidly if exposed to warm temperature and has to be refrigerated as soon as you get home.

Bon Appetit and to your health
